THE GOODWEAVE LABEL

The GoodWeave label is the only certification in the world that helps connect Global carpet brands with responsible suppliers in India. Through the certification, our business partners demonstrate that no child, forced or bonded labor was used in the making of their products and their entire supply chain has been mapped and inspected upto the last level. Licensed producers strive to meet the requirements of the GoodWeave Standard–a standard rooted in three unwavering principles of no child labor, no forced and bonded labor, and business transparency.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET YOUR CARPETS CERTIFIED?

In order to compete in the global market, in addition to ensuring efficiency and product quality, the exporters are also required to be socially compliant. Once producers get licensed with us, our experienced inspectors make frequent, unannounced visits to every unit, even in informal, undisclosed part of their supply chain, helping them improve and get visibility of all levels of production. Licensed exporters receive GoodWeave label on the back of their rugs once the compliances based on GoodWeave standard is met. The label offers the best assurance for importers and consumers abroad that no child was exploited to make a rug and that other sustainable production practices were used. THE RESULT

During a 2015 landscape analysis, some 70 experts around the world noted that GoodWeave stands alone in implementing this type of deep supply chain work on a commercial level. Our market based approach thus helps industry partners gain legitimacy and advancement for their workforces, as the alternative response for global brands is to avoid high-risk regions (like India) altogether, cutting off income from the most vulnerable class of workers.
